Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center (English Introduction)
Project Overview
Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center, located on the east side of Yiwu International Trade City Zone 5 in Zhejiang Province, represents a monumental leap forward in global trade infrastructure. With a total construction area of 1.25 million square meters and an investment of 8.3 billion yuan, the center officially commenced operations on October 14, 2025. As the flagship project of Yiwu‘s sixth-generation market and a landmark project of Yiwu’s National International Trade Comprehensive Reform Pilot Zone, construction began in 2022 and was completed in approximately three years.
The project revolves around three main themes—new trade, new market, and new landmark—while comprehensively advancing the digital upgrade of four core elements: people, goods, space, and supply chain. This marks a new chapter in Yiwu‘s transformation from a traditional trade model to a digitally driven global trade ecosystem, aiming to become a digitalized, internationalized, modernized, and low-carbon benchmark for global trade.
Five Functional Sections
Unlike its predecessors, the sixth-generation market functions as a comprehensive complex, incorporating five major sections:
1. Market Section (410,000 sqm)
Over 3,700 merchants have settled in this section, covering eight emerging industries including fashion jewelry, creative trendy toys, smart equipment, infant and children’s products, skincare and medical aesthetics, unmanned equipment, AI equipment, and AR/VR.
Key features include:
-
Industry Clustering: The market focuses on hot sectors such as smart equipment, creative trendy toys, and fashion jewelry, precisely aligning with global demand trends. The smart equipment zone alone brings together nearly 200 advanced enterprises, making “group expansion overseas” more accessible.
-
Scenario-Based One-Stop Exhibition: By integrating related sub-categories around consumption themes such as fashion and mother-baby products, the market enables one-stop sourcing with significantly improved efficiency. The logic is simple: upstream and downstream partners are just next door or one floor away.
-
Youthful and Brand-Driven Merchant Base: Among settled merchants, 52% are second-generation entrepreneurs and young business owners, while 57% operate their own brands or manage IP products.
2. Office Buildings Section
The office buildings section is scheduled to open in April 2026. Integrated with the market section, it enables an innovative business model where “product selection happens downstairs, while negotiation and design take place upstairs.”
3. Commercial Blocks Section
Also opening in April 2026, the commercial blocks gather diverse formats including dining, leisure, and shopping, transforming procurement into a composite space of “business plus lifestyle.”
4. Apartments Section
The apartments section was put into use in August 2025, providing talent apartments for merchants and professionals, completing a closed-loop ecosystem of living and working
5. Digital Trade Port Section
The Digital Trade Port serves as the “digital brain” of the center, featuring three hubs for digital trade exhibition, data trading, and new product launches. It aims to become China’s first small-commodity industry data trading center and an important launch venue for Chinese daily consumer goods.
“1+3+N” Digital Trade Development System
1 High-Energy Digital Trade Port: The core digital trade hub coordinating exhibition, data circulation, and new product launches.
3 Digital Trade Platforms:
-
YiwuSell Platform: Provides one-stop trade services covering customs, taxation, logistics, warehousing, and financing.
-
“World Yiwu” Trade Model: A vertical AI model for small-commodity trade, featuring 13 AI applications including Xiaoshang AI Design, Xiaoshang AI Visual Creation, and AI Video Translation
-
Digital Supply Chain Platform: A global “two warehouses, one route” delivery system combining domestic and overseas warehouses with international logistics.
-
Yiwu Pay Platform: A cross-border payment system supporting RMB, foreign exchange, and digital RMB, ensuring seamless global payments.
N Digital Empowerment Scenarios: Covering AI-driven factory design, one-click global store opening, intelligent navigation, embodied AI market patrol, and in-market data trading.
Digital Infrastructure and AI Applications
As a flagship project, the Global Digital Trade Center is equipped with 10-gigabit optical networks, Wi-Fi 7, 5G-A, and cross-border data transmission channels—making it the largest integrated indoor market network in China.––
AI applications cover the entire trade chain. Intelligent navigation guides buyers to optimize sourcing routes. AI transparent translation screens enable real-time multilingual communication. AI digital shop assistants accompany customers and engage in in-depth interactions. The “Kujiale Studio Shoot” project can generate images in one minute across 5,000 scenes at one-tenth of the cost.
Market Evolution
Yiwu‘s market has undergone six relocations, ten expansions, and six generations of transformation, now maintaining trade relations with 233 countries and regions worldwide.
While previous generations focused on the scale of “connecting goods globally,” the sixth-generation market addresses the quality question of how to “connect efficiently globally.” Driven by digital technology and ecosystem restructuring, it marks a fundamental shift from scale-driven to efficiency-driven growth
Future Vision
According to Yiwu’s Artificial Intelligence Innovation Development Action Plan, by 2027, the flagship digital trade center will be fully completed with over 80% market merchant coverage of the “World Yiwu” trade model. Digital trade volume will exceed 600 billion yuan, and AI-driven industrial upgrades will drive revenue of digital core industries beyond 65 billion yuan. By 2030, digital trade volume is projected to surpass one trillion yuan.
Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center continues to unleash innovative momentum, injecting strong vitality into Zhejiang‘s construction of a digital trade demonstration zone and serving the “dual circulation” development pattern, striving to become a digital bridge connecting Chinese smart manufacturing with global markets.
