Yiwu Booms With Shopping Tourism Frenzy During National Day Holiday
On the morning of October 1 at 9:30 a.m., the parking lot at the West Gate of Yiwu International Trade City District 1 had less than one-third of its spaces available, vividly showcasing the market’s explosive holiday popularity. License plates from across China—including Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangxi, and Shanghai—filled the parking area, foreshadowing the bustling crowds that thronged the world-famous small commodity hub ahead of the National Day holiday peak.

Stepping into the market, the toy zone in District 1 was packed with visitors and buyers. The lively sound of toy sound effects blended with bargaining inquiries in various accents, creating a vibrant and prosperous commercial atmosphere. During this year’s National Day break, the market launched the themed campaign “Explore Yiwu · Premium Goods Celebrate National Day”, rolling out an innovative integrated consumption model that combines shopping, social interaction, and online content sharing.
The event featured a diverse lineup of immersive experience zones, including the “Future Star” premium goods market, a kids’ entrepreneurship bazaar, and personalized accessory DIY workshops. A selection of specialty catering outlets, ranging from Hong Kong-style tea restaurants to authentic Middle Eastern eateries, were newly opened on-site to enrich visitors’ dining experience. All consumers and merchants who shop at the market or post themed content on social platforms are eligible for dual lucky draws, maximizing holiday engagement and market vitality.
On the same day, all major markets across Yiwu kicked off a full-scale National Day carnival, covering the entire Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center and Yiwu International Trade City. Aligned with the city’s official tourism initiative “Travel in Zhejiang, Explore Yiwu”, the holiday campaign leverages the iconic cultural and tourism IP “Explore Yiwu” to integrate industrial trade drainage with holiday cultural tourism consumption. The trending “stock-up tourism” has once again swept the city, merging wholesale procurement and leisure travel into a new popular consumption trend.
In District 2 and East District 2, the “Gather for National Day · Prime Procurement Season” event set up 50 float booths showcasing high-quality commodities with exclusive National Day procurement discounts. Online pre-registration and lucky draw activities effectively locked in intentions from domestic and overseas buyers in advance. Offline, the “Best Social Sharing Award” social fission campaign encouraged tourists and purchasers to post market exploration content on social media for raffle opportunities. Visitors who completed check-ins at three themed scenic spots and shared posts with designated hashtags could redeem customized limited-edition souvenirs.
At the central atrium on the first floor of District 3, the “Explore Yiwu · Premium Goods in District 3” National Day Shopping Carnival focused on the district’s core advantageous industries: stationery and sports goods, eyewear, and cosmetics. The event added five distinctive themed check-in points, alongside brand float exhibitions and trendy cultural and creative bazaars. A series of people-benefiting activities were launched, including perfume DIY experiences, golden autumn coffee stations, lucky draws, National Day blessing walls, and free optometry and glasses cleaning services, delivering tangible benefits to consumers.
In the central area of the south gate on the first floor and the footwear section E2 on the third floor of District 4, the “Golden Autumn Renewal · Fun Shopping Season” National Day promotion campaign arranged 50 market stalls. The booths showcased high-quality knitted socks, daily necessities, and other signature local products, with gourmet stalls introduced to create a lively, down-to-earth market atmosphere. The innovative “Stock-up Tourism Challenge” lottery activity rewarded purchasers with food vouchers, consumption coupons, and physical gifts after completing designated procurement tasks. Meanwhile, two exclusive holiday offers—“Wholesale Price for Single Items” and footwear’s “8th-Day Exclusive Discounts”—further stimulated on-site consumption.
Notably, the Global Adventure Season, hosted at the Import Commodity Hall in District 5 and Yiwu Premium Goods Plaza, centered on four core sections: themed bazaars, blind box store explorations, merchant promotions, and global trade interactive games. Collaborating with the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center, the event launched pop-up blind box activities and invited Yang Chengang, the original singer of the classic hit Mouse Loves Rice, to deliver a live performance. The arrangement created an all-scenario immersive experience integrating market exploration, shopping, entertainment, and artistic appreciation.
At the west square of the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center, a wealth of trendy experiential activities attracted continuous streams of tourists, including a designer bazaar, original IP exhibition gathering, digital trade blind box cabins, and drone football competitions. The commercial street also launched the “Travel & Treasure Hunt” mini-program check-in activity, allowing merchants and visitors to redeem coffee, merchant coupons, and other exclusive benefits by completing online check-in tasks.
A spokesperson from Yiwu China Commodity City Group stated that the series of National Day events aims to seize the peak holiday consumption window, amplify Yiwu’s brand appeal as a city of entrepreneurship, and build a new benchmark for integrated commercial, cultural, and tourism consumption. During the holiday period, comprehensive service guarantees will be fully implemented to deliver a satisfying shopping experience for global merchants and tourists, further expanding and upgrading Yiwu’s cultural tourism and commercial consumption scale.
