Yiwu District 4 Unveils Revamped Tourism Shopping Zone for National Day, Merging Wholesale Trade with Immersive Travel Experience

On October 1, the South Gate of Yiwu International Trade City District 4 buzzed with crowds. Accompanied by drum and gong beats, lion dance performers leaped through the venue while performers dressed as God of Wealth delivered blessings, marking the official grand opening of the relocated tourism shopping center on the first floor. This National Day holiday witnessed a remarkable shift: visitors are no longer merely touring a commodity market, but exploring a tourist attraction. Instead of simply inspecting goods and placing bulk orders, shoppers can travel and purchase at the same time. District 4 has rewritten the small commodity market’s business playbook and painted a new picture of integrated culture and tourism.
The slogan “New Tourism Shopping, More Excitement” is far more than a tagline. Ahead of this year’s National Day holiday, the Fourth Branch of Yiwu China Commodity City Group fully restructured the tourism shopping precinct. The central zone on the first floor integrates visitor gathering, shopping guidance, product exhibitions and trade services. The apparel zone on the fifth floor features trendy outfits, direct factory supplies and tourist retail. The redesign shortens visitor routes inside the “World Supermarket”, streamlines shopping journeys and greatly improves customer satisfaction.
The lion dance and God of Wealth parade became the highlight of the launch ceremony. As the lions shook their heads and the God of Wealth handed out lucky ingots, shopkeeper Chen, a local merchant, smiled while receiving a decorative ingot. “Right after we opened the doors today, tourists started taking photos, walking into my store and asking for prices. The market has truly come alive,” he said. Merchants like Chen, who sell daily necessities, socks and hats, hung signs marking their stores as Preferred Merchants in the Tourism Shopping Zone for the holiday. They rolled out small-batch retail sales, bundled gift sets and souvenir packages, transforming stalls that once only accepted large wholesale orders into attractive retail destinations for casual tourists.
Online channels were equally vibrant. At 11 a.m. on opening day, local Yiwu influencer “Chongshan Dawang” streamed live from the new tourism shopping zone in District 4. The live camera panned across the first-floor central area all the way to the fifth-floor apparel section, showcasing affordable home goods priced at 9.9 yuan, factory-direct socks and leggings, travel-sized daily supplies and family hats all in one tour. On October 2, another local creator “Jianjian A” continued live streaming, bringing special holiday offers to global online visitors.
Real customer stories demonstrate the success of the new concept. Ms. Lin, a tourist from Hangzhou, originally accompanied her friend to place wholesale orders. After receiving a 30-yuan discount coupon for the new tourism shopping zone, she stocked up on autumn and winter socks for her family, kitchen storage products and two travel hats. “Spending over 88 yuan qualifies me for one lucky draw for a gold ingot prize. I won a three-piece storage set, more practical than ordinary souvenirs sold at scenic spots.” She posted a nine-photo album on her social media Moments with hashtags including #NewTourismShoppingMoreExciting, #District4TourismShoppingZoneMovedToFirstFloor and #StockUpTourismAtYiwuInternationalTradeCityTourismShoppingZone, and signed up for the “10-Second Flash Deal” activity. “I used to think wholesale markets were distant from ordinary tourists. This trip shows Yiwu perfectly combines wholesale prices with a fun day-out experience.”
This seamless fusion relies on a well-rounded strategy: instant purchase discounts encourage tourists to place orders, rewards for shopping enhance customer satisfaction, store-wide promotions motivate merchants, while flash sales, group buying days and influencer-led shopping tours form a complete loop of content exposure, on-site experience and sales conversion. The first 100 registrants for the influencer shopping tour can explore the new precinct alongside live streamers.
The reopening of District 4’s tourism shopping zone is not just a simple relocation to a new floor. It reimagines the whole model by combining procurement, tourism, live streaming and social media communities. It unlocks new retail revenue streams for vendors, lowers the barrier for tourists to experience Yiwu’s complete industrial supply chain, and turns the trending term “stock-up tourism” into an accessible, shareable and repeatable consumer experience.
Market prosperity never comes from empty slogans. To welcome the National Day holiday and global buyers, the Fourth Branch of Yiwu China Commodity City Group conducted advance surveys of merchant resources, redesigned the tourism shopping space, partnered with local influencers and built a full consumer conversion funnel. The professional wholesale market has been upgraded from a pure trading venue into a destination worth traveling to visit. This proactive mindset — supporting merchants, embracing tourists and facing the whole world — underpins the enduring vitality of Yiwu’s market over more than 40 years.
Come to Yiwu this holiday season and explore the tourism shopping zone in Yiwu International Trade City District 4.
